About Seddons Farm Bury
Seddons Farm is a highly popular residential area within Bury, approximately 2 miles west of Bury Town Centre, and about 11 miles from Manchester City Centre, in the BL8 postcode area.
This large and in-demand estate had its first housing phases built post-war, as demonstrated by the period semi-detached homes on the eastern side of the area, and over the succeeding years expanded massively to provide extensive housing for a wide variety of people with equally varying requirements and specifications for their ideal home.
To demonstrate this we would encourage a drive down Watling Street, one of the principal roads in the estate. All that is to be appreciated in Seddons Farm can be seen from this road and there will often be a Cardwells For Sale board on show too!
Watling Street in Seddons Farm is a modern continuation of the line of the pre-existing Watling Street on Holcombe Moor, the ancient roman road. Along the wide street, there are detached and semi detached bungalows and houses, small cul-de-sacs and side streets with shops such as an independent butchers, doctor and dentist practices, and one of two primary schools in the area.
These are Greenhill Primary School and St Stephens CE Primary School. Lowercroft Primary School is also nearby.
There are no immediate secondary schools in Seddons Farm, with most teenagers going to Tottington, Elton or Woodhey High Schools or Bury Grammar School so there are a variety of reputable schools to choose from.
Being situated between Ainsworth Road and Bolton Road, Seddons Farm is fantastic for commuting. The aforementioned main roads provide access directly into Bury and Bolton with Radcliffe not far away, and the motorway network accessible to the east and south of Bury/Radcliffe. Bury Interchange and Radcliffe metrolink station also provide public transport links in terms of regular bus services and metrolink services around Greater Manchester.
As Seddons Farm, Bury is a residential location as opposed to a village in its own right, it’s dependent on Bury for many public amenities and leisure facilities. There are also some good walking locations including Elton Reservoir.
