As Bury letting and estate agents, we often get asked by prospective buyers whether renting or buying is better. Many people are in the mindset that buying your own property is better than renting. However, we’ve decided to turn the tables and write a blog on why renting could be a better option for you and hopefully help make your decision easier!

One of the biggest reasons why renting could be seen as better than trying to buy a house is that it’s more affordable and more flexible. You don’t need to put down a large deposit to secure a property and you don’t need to go through the hassle of trying to get accepted for a mortgage. You’re also more in control of your finances as you don’t have fluctuating mortgage payments; your rent will more than likely be on a fixed term contract. This means you know exactly what’s going in and what’s coming out.
Another big bonus of renting is having a landlord. You won’t have to worry about any maintenance costs or repair bills as your landlord legally has to deal with those issues. We’ve found that properties created for renting tend to have lower utility costs than other properties and homes. One thing that could be seen as a positive to some, but a negative to others, is the fact that you can’t remodel the property. This saves you money in the long run, but you need to accept your current living decorations.
Finally, if you are renting you don’t need to worry about things like house prices constantly changing as it won’t affect you or the property.
