About Euxton Chorley
Euxton is situated in the Borough of Chorley. The village is situated just to the south of Leyland and to the west of Chorley centre. Euxton’s original village settlement was based near the ford over the River Yarrow along the route of the Old Roman Road (A49) that runs through the length of the village.
The manorial seat was Euxton Hall owned first by the Molyneux family and later by the Anderton family and the centre of the village later moved from the old ford to be closer to Euxton Hall and its chapel (now Euxton Parish Church).
In its industrial past Euxton has had a bobbin mill, weaving mill, spinning mill and a corn mill. It is reputed to have had one of the first paper mills circa 1610. More recently Euxton was known for its Royal Ordnance Munitions factory.
Euxton has a varied mix of modern and older properties and is situated close to the ever expanding Buckshaw Village. The M61 and M6 motorways plus Buckshaw Parkway train station are all easily accessed making Euxton an ideal home for commuters.
Schools in and around Euxton village are Euxton Primrose Primary School, Balshaw Lane Primary School and Euxton St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
