Radcliffe is a town which forms part of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury and which sits nestled between Bury, Bolton, and Whitefield. The town has been settled for a significant amount of time as there is evidence of Mesolithic Norman and Roman activity in the area. Known previously as “Redeclive” the town appears in the Domesday Book and was at one time centred on the Church of St Mary which is now a Grade I listed building. Cardwells have been selling houses in Radcliffe since 1982.
Being a comparatively new town, Radcliffe’s homes are mostly, if not all, dating early 1900s or thereafter. Typically for a mill town, the grid-iron street are prominent when travelling around Radcliffe, but beyond these zones you will find a variety of modern, some ’70’s, some 90’s and some more recent development, where the town has evolved to pander to wealthier residents and keep up with neighbouring areas, particularly Whitefield and Bury.
