You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Try standing outside of your house and comparing it with your neighbours’. Many people will judge a house on its exterior and if it’s not up to standards, you’ll have already lost a lot of people’s interest. People either trawling the internet of driving past your house will just carry on straight past if the front image doesn’t immediately catch their attention.
De-clutter! This may seem self explanatory, but once you have got a viewing, don’t let your house down by having a messy interior. There’s nothing more likely to put off a potential buyer than stuff all over the floors.
Detach yourself from your property. It’s only natural to have pictures of friends and loved ones around your house. Potential buyers want to imagine themselves living in a house, which is why new builds are often easier to sell; there’s obviously no evidence of anyone ever living there. Try to make your home feel vacated, just whilst there’s viewings.
Check for odours. Not everyone loves the smell of your pet and its food! Just be mindful of animals wandering around when you have a viewing; not everyone is comfortable with them. Empty any bins and clear the washing up. Fresh washing and air fresheners work wonders!
