Should you move on a Friday?
So according to their data, Friday is the most popular day to move house! So why Friday? Well it seems that many people want to take full advantage of the weekend in order to move and settle in to the new house, and turn it into a home. It also means that you may only need to take the one day off work instead of multiple. Another key positive with the majority of moves happening on Fridays means that there is very little disruption to the housing chain as other people will be moving at the same rate as yourselves.
We know many moving companies and removal companies that offer special deals for Friday moves as well! If you are planning to move on a Friday however, be aware that many banks have earlier deadlines for money transfers because of the coming weekend.
Reasons you might not want to leave it until the end of the week.
Friday is of course the end of the working week, and means that if anything goes wrong with your move (and we sincerely hope that it doesn’t) you will have to wait until the Monday to get any issues sorted, or you will have to pay more for weekend rates for tradesmen etc if there is an issue with the actual house. Another Friday issue comes from the popularity of Friday moves. It could lead to bank computer systems being overworked or even completely breaking down. And if this does happen, it could potentially leave you homeless for the weekend.
