The Cheapest and Most Expensive Places to Buy a House in Bury

Cardwells Estate Agents has recently reviewed new data revealing the most affordable and expensive areas in which to buy a house in Bury. This data, provided by the Office for National Statistics, examines the median house prices for various neighbourhoods in the area until March 2024. The findings starkly contrast the borough’s cheapest and most expensive areas.

The most affordable area to buy a home in Bury is Fernhill and Pimhole, with a median house price of just £127,000. Radcliffe follows closely behind with homes priced at £141,000, while Whitehead Park in Elton comes in third with a median price of £155,000.

Conversely, the Summerseat area is the most expensive, with median house prices reaching £335,000. Prestwich Central follows with a price tag of £332,496, and Sedgley Park comes third at £327,496. Other areas, such as Prestwich East and Higher Woodhill, feature homes priced at £252,000, with Nuttall and Tottington slightly above at £252,500.

Andrew Cardwell, managing director of Cardwell’s Estate Agents in Bury and Bolton, commented on the statistics: “These figures underscore the fact that Bury truly offers properties for every budget. The borough is known for its wide variety of properties, from studio apartments to country mansions with ample land, particularly in the rural parts of Bury such as Summerseat.”

Cardwell also highlighted that the type of property stock available in an area can influence the median house prices. Areas like Radcliffe are home to numerous apartments, while places like Summerseat and Prestwich have more detached and semi-detached properties, which tend to command higher prices.

“Bury is a wonderful place to live,” Cardwell added. “With its beautiful countryside, such as Burrs Country Park and Holcombe Hill, complemented by vibrant shopping, highly regarded schools, and excellent transport links, it’s no surprise that Bury is such a popular location for property buyers.”
