  • Bury: what to ask about a home viewed after dark

An evening viewing can show how a street feels at the time you return from work. It gives useful information, but it leaves some parts of the property harder to judge.

What to consider

Look at entrance lighting, the route from parking and how the rooms feel with normal lights on. Ask to return in daylight to see the roofline, garden and outlook more clearly. Do not use darkness as a reason to skip condition questions.

Leave with a usable record

After the appointment, note the facts you confirmed, the features you liked and the questions still open. Keep those categories separate so enthusiasm does not turn an assumption into a fact. Ask the agent for clarification while the visit is fresh in your mind. Where the answer requires legal or technical expertise, record who should investigate it. A useful viewing moves you towards a decision; it should not simply add another set of photographs to an unstructured collection.

Your next step

Keep separate notes for what you observed and what remains unseen. Arrange the second visit before making assumptions about privacy or natural light.
