As an Independent Estate Agent with branches throughout Lancashire, we were recently asked to contribute to an estate agency editorial that would appear in Lancashire Life Magazine.
Cardwells Estate Agents Managing Director, Andrew Cardwell stepped up for the task and shared a little bit of his experience of the property market and what he likes to do out of hours too. Here’s a snapshot of the Questions and answers, If you want to read the finished piece, we believe it is for the December/January edition of The Lancashire Life Magazine.
What Estate Agency Qualifications and experience do you have?
“I have a mix of formal and professional qualifications; a Master’s Degree with Distinction, a First Class Honours Degree. I was the youngest person to be awarded the Chartered Manager status, and I hold professional qualifications in residential estate agency, residential lettings and commercial estate agency, last year I was awarded “the highest achiever” award in this field. I have been an estate agent for around 18 years and earlier this year we opened a fourth branch; Cardwells M28 in Walkden / Worsley to complement our other offices in Bolton, Bury and Whitefield / Prestwich. The company was founded by my father in 1982 and in 2017 we celebrate our 35th anniversary”.
What makes for a good location for Buying or Selling Property in Lancashire?
“The location is often the most important factor when potential buyers are deciding which property to buy. However, a good location is very subjective; what one person loves can be the very reason why someone else does not want it. For many, a good location can mean a mix of easy access to excellent amenities such as: schools, transport links, shops, sports / recreational facilities and in many cases the countryside, perhaps also with a sunny aspect and pleasant views. Whilst for others a good location can simply be one that is close to family or even work / school”.
Of all the homes you have sold, which is the most memorable?
The most memorable property that I have sold is the former home of Bolton Wanderers football legend, the late Nat Lofthouse, on behalf of his family. The detached country property was his home for many years, and as a Bolton Wanderers supporter, it was a privilege to be asked to assist with the sale. Although there have been many grander, and perhaps more significant properties over the years. For example, the occasional mansion, some with acres of land, swimming pools, etc etc. This is the one stands out in my mind, as he was a hero of mine.
What are your hobbies and interests?
“I am a proud father of two children with whom I enjoy spending as much time as possible. Away from work and family, I am a keen long distance runner, having run 25+ marathons for different charities. I was lucky enough to win the Telford “Pumpkin” Marathon in 2016, which was a lovely surprise. I like virtually any sport and tried my hand at boxing in the summer of 2016, I lost on points to the better man, but really enjoyed the experience and raised plenty of money for Cancer Research. I enjoy going to live music concerts with guitar-based pop music / indie / Britpop being my preferred music”.
Do you like your photo?
No, not one bit. But I was told I had to include one! ha ha.
