Cardwells Estate Agents Enhances Community Safety with Public Defibrillator
Cardwells Estate Agents, has taken an important step towards safeguarding the community by installing a public access defibrillator outside its town centre office on Institute Street, just off Bradshawgate. The lifesaving device will be available to use at any time, day or night, by anyone who encounters a cardiac emergency.
This initiative demonstrates the firm’s commitment to public welfare, with managing director Andrew Cardwell emphasising the importance of accessibility to such equipment. He highlighted how Bolton’s town centre is surrounded by a diverse mix of businesses, places of worship, shops, professional services, and a steadily growing residential community, including apartments and student accommodation.
Andrew explained: “With the continuing development and regeneration of Bolton town centre, the residential population is only set to grow in the medium and long term. Having a defibrillator on Institute Street means that our neighbours, our colleagues, in fact anyone, can have immediate access to vital emergency medical equipment that could save a life. Although we hope that it is never needed, we’re proud to be able to contribute just a little bit to help make the people of our Bolton community a tiny bit safer in a crisis.”

The device itself has been designed with public use in mind, offering clear step-by-step instructions so that even those without medical training can operate it confidently. It is also registered with the local ambulance service, ensuring that emergency call handlers can direct members of the public to its location within seconds, which is often critical when dealing with sudden cardiac arrest.
Health experts have long stressed that immediate access to defibrillators significantly improves survival rates. By investing in this vital equipment, Cardwells Estate Agents is not only providing reassurance to the people of Bolton but is also helping to build a safer, more resilient community.
Sarah Jones, founder of Restart The Heart charity, praised the decision, stating: “Every defibrillator is a lifeline, and thanks to Andrew Cardwell and all at Cardwells Estate Agents, this one will be there when it’s needed most. Their generosity could mean the difference between life and death for someone in Bolton.”
This move reflects the estate agent’s strong community spirit and underlines how local businesses can play a crucial role in supporting public health. With the population of Bolton’s town centre continuing to grow, the presence of a publicly accessible defibrillator ensures that residents, visitors, and workers alike are better protected in the event of an emergency.
